The family business Getzner, Mutter & Cie was founded in 1818 by Christian Getzner, Franz Xaver Mutter and Andreas Gassner.

The first red dyeing factory in Western Austria was opened in 1819 in Feldkirch, and the company's first machine spinning mill was opened at the same time.

In 1820, the company employed roughly 3000 home workers for the spinning mill and the weaving mill in and around Bludenz and in the neighboring valleys.

In 1827, Christian Getzner and his partners acquired the municipal bleaching works in Bludenz and founded the site that has housed the company headquarters up to today.

Additional sites were founded in the following decades, and early expansion onto foreign markets laid the foundations for the company's international importance today.

In 1980, the textile division of the traditional company Getzner, Mutter & Cie. was spun off as an independent stock corporation.

The result of the spin-off, Getzner Textil AG, is one of the largest dyed weaving works in the world. today.
